Take steps in Kent to help people affected by cancer.

Every day 840 people in the UK are told they have cancer.

Macmillan's ambition is to improve the lives of people affected by cancer by providing them with the medical, emotional, practical and financial support they need. Macmillan relies on charitable donations and fundraising for 99% of our money so we need your help - join us for our annual sponsored walk through the stunning parkland of Penshurst Place on Sunday 16th May 2010. Last year the walk raised a fantastic £17,189 and this year we are hoping to raise over £18,000.

Enjoy a lovely walk through the grounds of the Penshurst Estate, one of Britain's outstanding country houses as well as one of England's greatest defended manor houses set in a peaceful rural setting that has changed little over the centuries. It is just £5 to register and you can choose between a 2 1/2 mile and 8 mile route, both routes are suitable for walkers of all ages but not pushchairs or wheelchairs, dogs are welcome.

Alternatively there are lots of other ways to get involved with the walk:

• Could you be a marshall?

• Would you like to help us welcome people on the day and make sure they have everything they need?

• Would you like to cheer on our supporters as they start their journeys and welcome them back as they cross the finish line?

• Could you help us greet walkers with some water and a treat to keep them going?
